Responsible leadership can be understood as a form of leadership that balances organisational goals with wider social, ethical, and environmental responsibilities. It emphasises accountability, inclusivity, and the ability to act with integrity in complex and uncertain contexts (Maak & Pless, 2006). In health systems, this approach is particularly important because leaders often face competing demands, limited resources, and ethical challenges that directly impact patient care and community well-being (West et al., 2015).
By focusing on responsible leadership, health systems can strengthen decision-making processes, ensure equitable access to care, and foster trust between professionals and the communities they serve (Doh & Quigley, 2014). This portfolio has been developed to demonstrate my own learning journey and growth in this field. Through selected artefacts and critical reflection, I aim to show how my understanding of responsible leadership has evolved, and how I see myself developing as an emerging leader in health systems.
